Why should I consider coming to Utah for my surgery?

Simply put, quality plastic surgery is less costly in Utah than in other areas of the country. Plastic surgeons in Utah face an unusually competitive environment and have historically kept their fees down. This works to your advantage, as a surgical center and anesthesia fess are also less. We are all board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgeons and members of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as is any qualified plastic surgeon. We are experienced surgeons and are highly motivated to assist you in achieving your goals.

Why not get Plastic Surgery in California?

Plastic surgery in California, like anywhere else in the world, is driven by the simple economics of supply and demand. For example, a simple breast augmentation procedure in Los Angeles -- where demand is up to 4x higher than it is anywhere else in the nation -- commands premium pricing.

The Premier Plastic Surgery Group of Utah specializes in providing high quality cosmetic and reconstructive surgery from board-certified surgeons at an affordable price. Because we are located in Utah where both demand and the cost of running a center for plastic surgery are much lower, we are able to pass the savings on to you.

How long will I need to remain in the Salt Lake area?

You will need to come in at least a day or two before your surgery for a consultation with your surgeon. At that time, you and he will discuss your goals, do a physical examination, and come up with a plan that works best for you.

Most surgical procedures are done as outpatient, but some of our facilities offer an overnight stay.

Afterwards your surgeon may require you to remain in Salt Lake for several days. The length of stay is dependent on the procedure done. For instance, after a breast augmentation, you may return home 24 hours later; while a tummy tuck may require you to stay several days in order to manage drains and keep an eye on potential complications. When you contact us, ask about your particular situation.

Will I need to return to Salt Lake?

Again, this is dependent on the procedure done. With a breast augmentation, your sutures are dissolvable and will not need to be removed. We encourage a return within serveral weeks to evaluate results, or this can be done via e-mail with digital photos 6-8 weeks later. You may follow up with us at any time after surgery if you have any concerns.

What if there is a problem after my return home?

Most problems can be handled from a distance by phone calls or e-mail. Prescriptions may be called to your pharmacy, even out of state. In the very unlikely event of serious problem, you may have to go to a physician at home in a pinch, or if possible, return to see us. This is a very unlikely scenario, but be sure to discuss this with our surgeon ahead of time.

We might do this as part of an extended stay in Utah, maybe Park City or Sundance. Any suggestions?

With any surgery, there will be a need for recovery time. You should not expect to go skiing, for instance, right after any procedure. However, there are a number of extraordinary opportunities to enjoy your stay in Utah, which may be less physically demanding. There are a number of cultural opportunities in Salt lake, including world class ballet, symphony or acting companies. Or simply just relax and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet.

What if I come to Utah for, say, a breast augmentation, but once there we are told that another procedure is needed? Or that my medical problems do not allow me to have a certain procedure?

We would like to get as much information possible from you before coming to Utah. Digital photos would be invaluable to us in order to assess your situation. If for instance, you wish to have a breast augmentation, but we might see on your photos that you have significant ptosis (“sagging”) we may suggest that you need a breast lift with your augmentation. This may involve more cost and more scars that may affect your decision.

If you have significant medical problems, such as heart problems or uncontrolled diabetes, we may not be able to do your surgery safely. Information supplied to us before your visit may save you a trip.

If you do come to Utah, and changes or decisions significantly alter your plans such that you choose to cancel your surgery, any pre-paid fees will be returned to you.
